St Cuthbert’s Care is one of the largest and most successful providers of children’s residential care in the North East. In addition to placing children and young people from within our region, we also consider referrals from the surrounding areas and nationally.
Each of our homes is registered with Ofsted and can accommodate young people who are aged between seven and seventeen years.

Auton House, Newcastle
Kerry Wilson-Pearce is the Registered Manager of our purpose-built home in Newcastle. Kerry joined St Cuthbert’s Care over 14 years ago, working within children’s services at a senior level, she specialises in the delivery of ‘Managing Challenging Behaviour’ training.
The latest Ofsted report rated the home as Good and Kerry was recognised for her excellent leadership and management skills.
Our Newcastle home is set in beautiful spacious grounds with a large, welcoming garden at the front. The home has been specifically designed with young people in mind, aimed at creating a warm and happy environment where they can relax, enjoy each other’s company in the games room and social areas, but also have some private space of their own when they wish.

Auton Sunderland
Jody Scott is the registered manager at our Auton home in Sunderland and has been in post since it opened in September 2011. In the latest Ofsted report, October 2025, the home was rated as Outstanding in all areas and Jody was commended for creating a home for children that has had a significant influence on changing their lives.
Auton Sunderland is a spacious, three storey, end terrace house situated in a residential area close to the city centre. The large garden provides a pleasant outdoor space in which our young people can have fun and relax. We also actively encourage them to become interested and involved in its upkeep.

Auton Darlington
Amy Ward is the Registered Manager at our Auton home in Darlington. Amy has worked in our children’s homes since 2017, starting her career with us as a senior Residential Care Officer (RCO) and following promotion, as the Deputy Manager. Amy holds a Level 4 Leadership and Management qualification in Care Services with 22 years’ experience within children’s residential care.
The latest Ofsted report, February 2024 rated the home Good.
Our Darlington home is a large, three storey, detached house in the west end of the town. Set in its own private and pleasant grounds, it is close to the town centre and all local facilities. The comfortable and welcoming home has been specially designed to meet the needs and wants of the young people living there.
